z_index_tablet=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>Por cada tonelada de cobre que se produce, se genera hasta 1,2 toneladas de escoria, pasivo ambiental de gran magnitud. En Chile hay 60 millones de toneladas de este residuo acumulado que contienen metales pesados, pero este panorama podr\u00eda cambiar gracias al desarrollo de una tecnolog\u00eda basada en hidr\u00f3geno verde a cargo de ingenieros de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n,<\/p>\n<p>La iniciativa creada por investigadores del Departamento de Metalurgia de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n, se denomina Green Copper, y busca desarrollar un proceso alternativo a las fundiciones actuales de cobre, las que, en todas partes del mundo, debido a la tecnolog\u00eda que utilizan, generan una gran cantidad de escoria provocando adem\u00e1s emisiones fugitivas de gases que contienen di\u00f3xido de azufre que es altamente t\u00f3xico.<\/p>\n<p>En Chile, por ejemplo, un poco m\u00e1s de un tercio de los concentrados se procesan localmente en fundiciones y refiner\u00edas, las que generan crecientes exigencias ambientales. De igual manera las mineras exportan los concentrados de cobre para fundir en el extranjero enfrentando amenazas comerciales por los agentes contaminantes como el ars\u00e9nico.\u00a0 Otro aspecto preocupante es que al 2030 los concentrados de cobre representar\u00e1n un 88% del total producido en el pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n<p>De esta manera Green Copper es tecnolog\u00eda de procesamiento de concentrados de cobre cero emisiones, cero residuos, \u201c<strong>est\u00e1 basada en hidr\u00f3geno verde, elimina todo el azufre en una etapa cerrada para generar \u00e1cido sulf\u00farico, no hay emisiones lo que es una gran ventaja. Otra de las virtudes que vemos en nuestra tecnolog\u00eda, es que no se pierde ning\u00fan metal contenido en el concentrado a diferencia a lo de que vemos en la actualidad, que se recupera b\u00e1sicamente solo el cobre y los metales nobles, nosotros podemos recuperar todo el cobre, los metales nobles, el hierro e incluso molibdeno que se pierde en la escoria\u201d,<\/strong>\u00a0explica Igor Wilkomirsky, investigador de la FI UdeC y uno de los impulsores de esta iniciativa.<\/p>\n<p>Wilkomirsky destaca que la mayor\u00eda de las ventajas de Green Copper son ambientales, \u201c<strong>lo otro es la huella de carbono que ser\u00eda cero y no generar\u00edan pasivos ambientales<\/strong>\u201d. De igual manera destac\u00f3 que existen una serie de etapas de no se pueden pasar por alto en el proceso de desarrollo de una tecnolog\u00eda, \u201c<strong>hay una serie de etapas que uno no puede saltarlas, obviamente las pruebas de laboratorio son los primeros indicadores, pero en general desde su concepci\u00f3n hasta la implementaci\u00f3n pueden pasar cinco a\u00f1os, si es algo estrat\u00e9gico; si no, puede ser una d\u00e9cada<\/strong>, puntualiza.<\/p>\n<p>En cuanto a este disruptivo proyecto basado en hidr\u00f3geno verde, el docentes quien adem\u00e1s es el investigador con m\u00e1s patentes en Chile, especifica que en el Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda Metal\u00fargica ha hecho bastante camino en muchas tecnolog\u00edas, \u201c<strong>unas m\u00e1s exitosas que otras, pero creo que si vamos a competir como universidad con los grandes, tenemos que jugar con las reglas de los grandes<\/strong>\u201d, puntualiza.<\/p>\n<p>Green Copper, fue unos de los proyectos presentados en el encuentro Chile 2020: Green Hydrogen Summit, destinado a analizar el rol de este combustible limpio en la generaci\u00f3n de transici\u00f3n energ\u00e9tica y sus perspectivas de negocio, realizado del 3 al 4 de noviembre. Cabe destacar adem\u00e1s que el equipo que desarroll\u00f3 esta iniciativa est\u00e1 compuesta por los docentes de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n: Igor Wilkomirsky, Roberto Parra, Eduardo Balladares y Fernando Parada.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section bb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; tonelada de cobre que se produce, se genera hasta 1,2 toneladas de escoria, pasivo ambiental de gran magnitud. En Chile hay 60 millones de toneladas de este residuo acumulado que contienen metales pesados, pero este panorama podr\u00eda cambiar gracias al desarrollo de una tecnolog\u00eda basada en hidr\u00f3geno verde a cargo de ingenieros de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n,<\/p><p>La iniciativa creada por investigadores del Departamento de Metalurgia de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n, se denomina Green Copper, y busca desarrollar un proceso alternativo a las fundiciones actuales de cobre, las que, en todas partes del mundo, debido a la tecnolog\u00eda que utilizan, generan una gran cantidad de escoria provocando adem\u00e1s emisiones fugitivas de gases que contienen di\u00f3xido de azufre que es altamente t\u00f3xico.<\/p><p>En Chile, por ejemplo, un poco m\u00e1s de un tercio de los concentrados se procesan localmente en fundiciones y refiner\u00edas, las que generan crecientes exigencias ambientales. De igual manera las mineras exportan los concentrados de cobre para fundir en el extranjero enfrentando amenazas comerciales por los agentes contaminantes como el ars\u00e9nico.\u00a0 Otro aspecto preocupante es que al 2030 los concentrados de cobre representar\u00e1n un 88% del total producido en el pa\u00eds.<\/p><p>De esta manera Green Copper es tecnolog\u00eda de procesamiento de concentrados de cobre cero emisiones, cero residuos, \u201c<strong>est\u00e1 basada en hidr\u00f3geno verde, elimina todo el azufre en una etapa cerrada para generar \u00e1cido sulf\u00farico, no hay emisiones lo que es una gran ventaja. Otra de las virtudes que vemos en nuestra tecnolog\u00eda, es que no se pierde ning\u00fan metal contenido en el concentrado a diferencia a lo de que vemos en la actualidad, que se recupera b\u00e1sicamente solo el cobre y los metales nobles, nosotros podemos recuperar todo el cobre, los metales nobles, el hierro e incluso molibdeno que se pierde en la escoria\u201d,<\/strong>\u00a0explica Igor Wilkomirsky, investigador de la FI UdeC y uno de los impulsores de esta iniciativa.<\/p><p>Wilkomirsky destaca que la mayor\u00eda de las ventajas de Green Copper son ambientales, \u201c<strong>lo otro es la huella de carbono que ser\u00eda cero y no generar\u00edan pasivos ambientales<\/strong>\u201d. De igual manera destac\u00f3 que existen una serie de etapas de no se pueden pasar por alto en el proceso de desarrollo de una tecnolog\u00eda, \u201c<strong>hay una serie de etapas que uno no puede saltarlas, obviamente las pruebas de laboratorio son los primeros indicadores, pero en general desde su concepci\u00f3n hasta la implementaci\u00f3n pueden pasar cinco a\u00f1os, si es algo estrat\u00e9gico; si no, puede ser una d\u00e9cada<\/strong>, puntualiza.<\/p><p>En cuanto a este disruptivo proyecto basado en hidr\u00f3geno verde, el docentes quien adem\u00e1s es el investigador con m\u00e1s patentes en Chile, especifica que en el Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda Metal\u00fargica ha hecho bastante camino en muchas tecnolog\u00edas, \u201c<strong>unas m\u00e1s exitosas que otras, pero creo que si vamos a competir como universidad con los grandes, tenemos que jugar con las reglas de los grandes<\/strong>\u201d, puntualiza.<\/p><p>Green Copper, fue unos de los proyectos presentados en el encuentro Chile 2020: Green Hydrogen Summit, destinado a analizar el rol de este combustible limpio en la generaci\u00f3n de transici\u00f3n energ\u00e9tica y sus perspectivas de negocio, realizado del 3 al 4 de noviembre.
