Fuente: Vicerrector\u00eda de Investigaci\u00f3n y Desarrollo de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n<\/em><\/p>\n Jueves 8 de abril 2021.-<\/strong>\u00a0La Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n y WOM formalizaron una alianza estrat\u00e9gica de colaboraci\u00f3n, con el fin de impulsar el desarrollo de investigaciones, innovaci\u00f3n e iniciativas de colaboraci\u00f3n en distintos \u00e1mbitos, basados en el uso de tecnolog\u00eda 5G.<\/p>\n El acuerdo une las capacidades de la operadora, que en febrero de este a\u00f1o se adjudic\u00f3 espectro en todas las bandas en la licitaci\u00f3n p\u00fablica realizada por la Subsecretar\u00eda de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL), y la experiencia acumulada por investigadores de la universidad, quienes desde 2017 avanzan en el estudio de esta herramienta. La colaboraci\u00f3n entre ambas instituciones busca, entre otros frutos, iluminar los tres campus universitarios en Concepci\u00f3n, Chill\u00e1n y Los \u00c1ngeles con tecnolog\u00eda 5G.<\/p>\n En la ceremonia de firma se destacaron los tres ejes de trabajo que considera el convenio: el primero, enfocado en\u00a0desarrollo de proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n e innovaci\u00f3n con impacto productivo<\/strong>, relacionados con las variadas aplicaciones del 5G; el segundo eje, que potencia el talento profesional, busca\u00a0incrementar el n\u00famero de especialistas<\/strong>\u00a0en esta \u00e1rea, a trav\u00e9s de la formaci\u00f3n, tesis y pr\u00e1cticas profesionales en la compa\u00f1\u00eda y programas de capacitaci\u00f3n. Finalmente, el tercer eje espera impulsar el emprendimiento, a trav\u00e9s de distintos desaf\u00edos, la b\u00fasqueda de\u00a0startups e incubaci\u00f3n de empresas de base tecnol\u00f3gica.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cEste acuerdo responde a nuestro compromiso en generar espacios e instancias de colaboraci\u00f3n desde nuestro servicio, donde se fomente la innovaci\u00f3n y el emprendimiento, para el desarrollo local, permitiendo descentralizar esta tecnolog\u00eda y dar acceso a sus beneficios a m\u00e1s rincones de Chile\u201d,<\/strong>\u00a0explica Christopher Laska, CEO de WOM.<\/p>\n Explorar las diversas aplicaciones de la tecnolog\u00eda 5G es uno de los prop\u00f3sitos del convenio, que espera ofrecer mejores servicios para el futuro, abriendo la posibilidad a que sean los mismos estudiantes quienes descubran nuevos usos de esta tecnolog\u00eda, conozcan su funcionamiento y propongan soluciones a problem\u00e1ticas actuales.<\/p>\n \u201cDar inicio a esta alianza estrat\u00e9gica nos permitir\u00e1 abordar en forma conjunta grandes desaf\u00edos en investigaci\u00f3n y desarrollo, especialmente orientados a ampliar las aplicaciones y uso de tecnolog\u00edas de la informaci\u00f3n y comunicaci\u00f3n, TICs, en procesos productivos y de comunicaciones entre las personas, donde las aplicaciones de 5G tendr\u00e1n un rol relevante. Trabajaremos asociativamente en la atracci\u00f3n de talento hacia estas \u00e1reas, aportando al incremento de las capacidades tecnol\u00f3gicas y profesionales para el mejor aprovechamiento de las oportunidades que surgen desde las TICs y tecnolog\u00edas afines\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0indica Carlos Saavedra Rubilar, Rector de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n, y agrega que,\u00a0\u00aba\u00a0partir de la uni\u00f3n de las capacidades cient\u00edficas, tecnol\u00f3gicas y humanas que confluyen en esta alianza, se establecer\u00e1n condiciones ideales para promover la innovaci\u00f3n y emprendimiento que cambien la vida de las personas que interact\u00faan con las TICs\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n Ambas instituciones comparten, adem\u00e1s, el compromiso por desarrollar iniciativas y proyectos que impulsen la conectividad y mayores servicios en nuestro pa\u00eds. Actualmente, la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n cuenta con equipos que permiten desplegar una red experimental 5G en su campus, que fueron donados por FiberHome y Datang Telecom International Technology, de China. A esto se suma el convenio Campus 5G suscrito por la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n con el Gobierno de Chile en agosto de 2020 destinado a la exploraci\u00f3n de las distintas alternativas que abre esta tecnolog\u00eda.<\/p>\n Por su parte, WOM se adjudic\u00f3 5 de las 6 macrozonas en 2020 del proyecto de Fibra \u00d3ptica Nacional (FON), lo que permitir\u00e1 el despliegue de una carretera de datos de fibra \u00f3ptica desde Arica y Parinacota hasta Biob\u00edo, beneficiando a 161 comunas de Chile y m\u00e1s de 2,5 millones de personas. Sumado a esto, la compa\u00f1\u00eda tambi\u00e9n se adjudic\u00f3 espectro en todas las bandas de la licitaci\u00f3n 5G, ubic\u00e1ndose como el 2do operador con mayor frecuencias en el
