Desde hace un tiempo escuchamos informaci\u00f3n respecto a la red 5G, tecnolog\u00eda m\u00f3vil que promete aumentar la velocidad de conexi\u00f3n, reducir la latencia, es decir el tiempo de respuesta de la web y permitir\u00e1 aumentar el n\u00famero de dispositivos conectados, pero ser\u00e1 as\u00ed de espectacular y cu\u00e1ndo podremos disfruta de sus bondades?<\/p>\n
El acad\u00e9mico e investigador de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda de la UdeC, doctor Jorge Pezoa, quien ha impulsado la implementaci\u00f3n de 5G en dicha casa de estudios, cuenta que esta red es la quinta generaci\u00f3n de comunicaciones m\u00f3viles inal\u00e1mbricas y que corresponde a un redise\u00f1o completo de todo lo que se ven\u00eda haciendo hasta ahora. \u201cLas primeras generaciones estuvieron orientadas solo para hablar por tel\u00e9fono, ya la tercera y la cuarta, sobre todo el 4G, incorporaron datos y conexi\u00f3n a internet para que se pudiera enviar mensajes multimedia, pero esta quinta generaci\u00f3n, lo que busca es conectar m\u00e1quinas y procesos, entonces est\u00e1 m\u00e1s enfocada en esa l\u00ednea, que hablar por tel\u00e9fono<\/strong>\u201d, explica Pezoa.<\/p>\n A este enfoque orientado a la industria 4.0 se suma el n\u00famero de usuarios que podr\u00e1n permanecer conectados al mismo tiempo, \u201cun mill\u00f3n de usuarios, generalmente m\u00e1quinas y personas, por Km2, transmitiendo a una alt\u00edsima velocidad<\/strong>\u201d. Algo que actualmente no es posible, sostuvo el ingeniero civil electr\u00f3nico. \u201cLas redes operan como un cajero autom\u00e1tico, pueden atender a una cierta cantidad de usuarios simult\u00e1neamente. Hoy en un mall, por ejemplo, con muchas personas conectadas al mismo tiempo, las torres no dan abasto<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n LA SE\u00d1AL ESPERADA<\/strong><\/p>\n El investigador de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda UdeC, destaca que el 5G obligar\u00e1 a las empresas de telecomunicaciones a ingresar a un \u201cjuego nuevo\u201d, porque hasta ahora sus servicios est\u00e1n orientados a las personas, pero si esta red est\u00e1 orientada a m\u00e1quinas y procesos, hay posibilidades de nuevos negocios. A lo anterior se sumar\u00eda la ventaja asociada a la gran cantidad de dispositivos que pueden conectar personas + m\u00e1quinas, \u201cahora se podr\u00e1n obtener un mont\u00f3n de datos, la cantidad de informaci\u00f3n que levantar\u00e1 favorecer\u00e1 a la industria 4.0, que trabaja con sensores, hay mucha expectativa por el lado industrial<\/strong>\u201d, comenta.<\/p>\n Respecto a lo anterior, Pezoa, explica adem\u00e1s que a la red se le sac\u00f3 \u201cla grasa\u201d que tiene en cuanto\u00a0a dispositivos y equipamiento que no sirven, lo que har\u00e1 que las conexiones sean mucho m\u00e1s inmediatas, \u201cel establecer una conexi\u00f3n ser\u00e1 muy r\u00e1pido lo que se llaman la baja latencia, por ejemplo, yo quiero controlar con un joystick una c\u00e1mara o un brazo rob\u00f3tico, solo con un movimiento se realizar\u00e1 inmediatamente, lo que hoy no pasa, uno aprieta el bot\u00f3n y se demora, ahora ser\u00e1<\/strong>\u00a0interactiv<\/strong>o\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Pezoa, quien lidera la implementaci\u00f3n de esta red en el Campus Concepci\u00f3n de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n, en el marco del convenio vigente entre la casa de estudios penquista con el\u00a0Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT)<\/strong>\u00a0y el\u00a0China Information and Communication Technology (Cict)<\/strong>, ambos con base en el gigante asi\u00e1tico; advierte que a fines de 2021 habr\u00e1n varios puntos conectados en el pa\u00eds y ser\u00e1n distribuidos por aquellas empresas de telecomunicaciones que ganaron la licitaci\u00f3n de 5G, que son Entel, Wom y Movistar.<\/p>\n
