Fuente: Vicerrector\u00eda de Investigaci\u00f3n y Desarrollo (VRID)<\/em><\/p>\n El pasado viernes 25 de junio se concret\u00f3 la firma del contrato de licenciamiento entre la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n y la empresa de base tecnol\u00f3gica universitaria (EBTU) Radiometric Sensing Solutions for Mining SpA, para el desarrollo de la tecnolog\u00eda denominada\u00a0Sensores optoelectr\u00f3nicos para digitalizar las fundiciones de cobre<\/u><\/strong>.<\/p>\n Esta firma es resultado del proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n\u00a0\u201cCaracterizaci\u00f3n espectral de fases fundidas y reacciones a alta temperatura de inter\u00e9s en el control y diagn\u00f3stico de procesos de la pirometalurgia del Cobre (Cu)\u201d,\u00a0<\/em>impulsado por un grupo acad\u00e9micos de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda de la UdeC, liderado por el Dr.\u00a0Roberto Parra Figueroa<\/strong>, acad\u00e9mico del Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda Metal\u00fargica. El equipo cuenta con una larga trayectoria de investigaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica y desarrollo tecnol\u00f3gico en el \u00e1mbito de la miner\u00eda y otras industrias afines.<\/p>\n \u201c\u00c9ste es un hito realmente importante para el desarrollo de nuestra empresa\u201d,<\/strong>\u00a0enfatiz\u00f3 Parra,\u00a0\u201cporque se concreta el licenciamiento que implica que la Universidad entrega a esta nueva empresa todo el capital de conocimiento de las patentes que sustentan el negocio y nos da la responsabilidad de poder comercializarlas y continuar con estos desarrollos\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n El trabajo se inici\u00f3 hace a\u00f1os, mientras el Dr. Parra se desempe\u00f1aba en instrumentaci\u00f3n en la industria del acero. En ese momento, not\u00f3 el limitado desarrollo de instrumentos en temas de procesos de la pirometalurgia del cobre.\u00a0\u201cExist\u00eda un\u00a0gap<\/em>\u00a0enorme respecto a otras industrias de procesos. Me contact\u00e9 con los colegas profesores Daniel Sb\u00e1rbaro y Sergio Torres, del Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda El\u00e9ctrica y empezamos a trabajar en este tema, presentado proyectos y avanzando en el desarrollo de soluciones optoelectr\u00f3nicas, en particular para las fundiciones de cobre\u201d<\/strong>, explic\u00f3 Parra.<\/p>\n El Dr.\u00a0Sergio Torres Inostroza,\u00a0<\/strong>por su parte, coment\u00f3 que,\u00a0\u201ccomenzamos aplicando estos sensores en otros procesos, como la ingenier\u00eda mec\u00e1nica e, incluso, en la medicina, hasta que llegamos a trabajar con gente de metalurgia, que ha sido m\u00e1s pr\u00f3spera para nosotros. En Chile, la industria minera es una de las que cuentan con m\u00e1s recursos, y que m\u00e1s inter\u00e9s han demostrado en llegar a la industria 4.0, la digitalizaci\u00f3n de los procesos\u201d<\/strong>, detall\u00f3.<\/p>\n La tecnolog\u00eda desarrollada se basa en que las reacciones de los procesos metal\u00fargicos emiten radiaci\u00f3n electromagn\u00e9tica, que es capturada a trav\u00e9s de circuitos \u00f3pticos dirigidos a transductores, radi\u00f3metros que convierten esta se\u00f1al en digital y se puede visualizar en un computador.\u00a0\u201cAs\u00ed es posible calcular KPIs (key performance indicators<\/em>) que son relevantes para la operaci\u00f3n de los hornos de conversi\u00f3n y refinaci\u00f3n de la pirometalurgia del cobre\u201d,<\/strong>\u00a0detall\u00f3 Torres.<\/p>\n Completan el equipo de I+D, Daniel Sbarbaro, Eduardo Balladares, Luis Arias, Francisco P\u00e9rez, Hugo Rojas, Franco Rivas y Gonzalo Reyes, todos integrantes de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda UdeC.\u00a0\u201cSiempre se habla de la vinculaci\u00f3n con la empresa y los proyectos Fondef buscan, de alguna manera, facilitar este tipo de resultados, pero no es tan trivial\u201d<\/strong>, indic\u00f3 Parra y agreg\u00f3 que\u00a0\u201cestamos convencidos de que con esta empresa podremos comercializar los desarrollos que durante los \u00faltimos 15 a\u00f1os hemos obtenido con el Profesor Sergio Torres y el equipo que est\u00e1 tras nuestro\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n Entre otras iniciativas, Parra detalla que continuar\u00e1n con la aplicaci\u00f3n de im\u00e1genes radiom\u00e9tricas hiperespectrales a los mismos procesos, para obtener informaci\u00f3n espacial.\u00a0\u201cA futuro, esperamos desarrollar sensores para la emisi\u00f3n de gases a la atm\u00f3sfera, que tenemos bastante avanzados por el trabajo que desarrollamos en el Cefop (Centro de \u00d3ptica y Fot\u00f3nica, UdeC), para medir estas emisiones desde las fundiciones\u201d<\/strong>, coment\u00f3.<\/p>\n Desde la investigaci\u00f3n a la industria<\/strong><\/p>\n El proyecto que motiv\u00f3 este licenciamiento ha generado la protecci\u00f3n intelectual de tres tecnolog\u00edas y permiti\u00f3 la adjudicaci\u00f3n de un Fondef, que ha posibilitado la validaci\u00f3n industrial de un sistema optoelectr\u00f3nico. Al mismo tiempo, el avance de esta tecnolog\u00eda motiv\u00f3 la firma de un convenio entre la UdeC y la empresa canadiense Kingston Process Metallurgy lnc., en virtud del cual los sensores fueron probados en procesos industriales reales en Alemania y Bulgaria. Adem\u00e1s, durante el segundo semestre de 2021 se llevar\u00e1 a cabo la validaci\u00f3n de esta tecnolog\u00eda en la Fundici\u00f3n Hern\u00e1n Videla Lira (Paipote, Regi\u00f3n de Atacama) de la Empresa Nacional de Miner\u00eda, Enami.<\/p>\n La directora ejecutiva de la Oficina de Transferencia y Licenciamiento UdeC,\u00a0Sandra Araya Tapia<\/strong>, destac\u00f3 que esta iniciativa, desde una etapa temprana de investigaci\u00f3n en 2012, comenz\u00f3 a ser apoyada por la OTL.\u00a0\u201cSin embargo, no fue sino en los \u00faltimos 4 a\u00f1os que se generaron contratos de licencia de prueba para entrar con esta tecnolog\u00eda a fundiciones de cobre en Alemania, Bulgaria, Espa\u00f1a y Chile, lo que ha permitido su validaci\u00f3n y maduraci\u00f3n\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n La participaci\u00f3n de este equipo en el programa de emprendimiento APTA Builder y la adjudicaci\u00f3n de fondos del SSAF (Corfo) les permiti\u00f3 que trabajaran en un modelo de negocios, el fortalecimiento de los aspectos comerciales y del equipo, apoyados por mentores y especialistas, tanto de APTA como de IncubaUdeC.\u00a0\u201cDe esta manera, la formalizaci\u00f3n de la licencia a esta nueva EBTU y la concesi\u00f3n de medidas de apoyo por parte de la Universidad, sin duda les permitir\u00e1n avanzar con mayor celeridad hacia el siguiente hito: la comercializaci\u00f3n de la primera de las cinco soluciones que ofrecer\u00e1n en una primera etapa a la industria minera\u201d<\/strong>, apunt\u00f3 Araya.<\/p>\n Con estos apoyos, Parra puede adelantar qu\u00e9 observa para el futuro de la nueva EBTU:\u00a0\u201cEsperamos, durante este a\u00f1o, consolidar las validaciones que est\u00e1n en curso y lograr las primeras ventas, precisamente con los mismos operadores industriales interesados en conocer y validar nuestros instrumentos\u00bb<\/strong>. De esa forma, piensan lograr levantar capital y abrir un poco la propiedad de la empresa, con el objetivo de acelerar otras innovaciones.\u00a0\u201cEstamos convencidos de que son de gran valor para la industria, sobre todo hoy, cuando la miner\u00eda tiene que tener una nueva mirada a la forma en que se hacen las cosas y existe una brecha importante en cuanto a la disponibilidad de sensores. Creemos que tenemos un futuro que va a ser positivo para la Universidad, para la facultad y para que, desde Concepci\u00f3n, podamos posicionar soluciones tecnol\u00f3gicas de base cient\u00edfica a
